Gallery of Shrewsbury colour and black and white prints.

Shrewsbury is a market town about an hour north west of Birmingham. It has a river, It’s a very pretty town. The Severn River runs in a loop around it. Shrewsbury has a football team, a KFC, and a cathedral. Even though it has a cathedral it calls itself a town. It’s a photographers paradise. The architecture is a mixture of medieval and modern, a handful of beautiful churches complete with spires compete with some of the ugliest buildings I’ve ever seen. Despite this the river and the surrounding landscape is exceptional and it has a few pretty bridges. Close by in rural Shropshire the hills and the views are stunning.

This panoramic above of Shrewsbury shows the English Bridge and the Severn River. The Severn floods quite regularly and blocks off the pathway I’m standing on. The two black and white prints below show the Tudor half board architecture on the left and on the right the bandstand in the park area by the river called The Quarry.

The area surrounding Shrewsbury is stunning. The Shropshire hills and the scenery there can be dramatic. I waited from quite early in the morning to get the shot below as the mist was beginning to clear from an area called Stiperstones. You can see this panoramic here.

As you know I like to shoot on film and this image was shot on Ilford 100ISO using my medium format Bronica ETRsi. It’s so lovely to occasionally shoot a landscape in the country. Not only is it beautiful and peaceful there’s less likelihood of being run over by a taxi or a motor cycle courier while shooting a city landscape. You can see the three Shrewsbury galleries of prints at the top of this page. There’s a black and white gallery, a colour and panoramics gallery and new to you all is a ‘vertical’ gallery (panoramics on their side). I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
