Prints for Hotels. The Park Plaza County Hall in London.
The Plaza Hotel County Hall at the south end of Westminster Bridge in London has two of my framed photographs either side of the bed in each of the ‘superior’ rooms. This was a commission and I loved every minute of it. The developer Galliard Homes asked me to shoot 184 black and white images for the 92 superior rooms. Two framed prints per room were required and they were to be be supplied in silver frames.
Galliard, the developer wanted their own bespoke set of limited edition prints to go into the hotel. Each print is numbered, signed by me and titled. You’ll see the silver frame is larger than I normally do which allows for a lovely large white mount to surround the print. It was pleased to be allowed to decide on the specification of these prints for such a prestigious job.
It turned out the architect for Gallaird the hotel’s developer had been to my studio in South West London and had also bought a print from my market stall all those years ago. The hotel approached me which was very flattering as these things are normally advertised.
So if you ever go to stay at The Park Plaza County Hall in central London let me know.
