Albert Bridge prints I’ve made over the years.
Albert bridge or the ‘pretty bridge’ as my daughters called it when they were young connects the Battersea Park end of Battersea with Chelsea. I’ve been making prints of it for years.
Years ago in London when I first started selling my prints on Northcote Road in the market on Fridays and Saturdays it was a popular print. As it was a limited edition I quickly ran out of prints I could sell. An estate agent once joked that most houses they had for sale in Clapham had that black and white Albert Bridge print hanging somewhere. So over the years the limited edition prints would be used up and I would keep coming back for more new photographs. I normally do a run of 100 or 150 so you can imagine how popular it is. The print in the photo above is a large panoramic and I took this one in 2023. There are lots left in this limited edition. You can see it here in the shop.
I remember printing the image you can see framed above. Up until then I had only made a few black and whites of the full width of the bridge, and they had all been taken from the Embankment on the Chelsea side. I wanted a view directly down the bridge but it didn’t work. I thought I could take a beautiful symmetrical image but the traffic kept spoiling the clean light of the bulbs. So I embraced the traffic light pollution and went for the ‘light streak’. I also could stand with my tripod on the side of the road rather than the more dangerous middle of the road.
I love this print and you can see it here. I printed this particular one in a more panoramic shape to fill the wall space. You’ll see the current limited edition of this image is more rectangular.
