Rugby union: Super Rugby Pacific, the All Blacks and NPC
Rugby is where every offshore book facing New Zealand earns its keep, and the market spread is wider than most punters realise. On a standard Super Rugby Pacific fixture you'll find the match winner (head-to-head), the handicap (one side gets a points start — the market where most serious rugby money goes), total match points, winning margin bands, and half-time/full-time doubles. All Blacks tests add the prop layer: first try-scorer, anytime try-scorer, team to score first, and race-to-points markets.
Depth drops as you move down the ladder. All Blacks tests carry the longest market lists at every book we opened. Super Rugby gets full coverage with props at the bigger books. NPC is where books separate: 22bet priced NPC down to first try-scorer in our sample, while several smaller books listed only the head-to-head and handicap. If provincial rugby is your game, that difference decides where you sign up.
On price, the pattern from our best NZ bookmakers testing holds in rugby: the sharper offshore books ran roughly 4.5–5.5% margins on match lines against TAB NZ's ~6.5%. A tip from our testing: handicap lines on trans-Tasman derbies move hard in the 24 hours before kickoff as team news lands — the Tuesday price and the Friday price are often a point apart.
NRL and the Warriors
League betting in NZ is Warriors betting, and the NRL is the single best-priced competition we sample — 22bet's NRL match lines ran about 4.5% margin in our October 2026 check, the sharpest number in our whole test. Standard markets per game: match winner, points-start handicap (the NRL "line"), total points over/under, first try-scorer, anytime try-scorer, and half-time/full-time.
Two NRL-specific markets deserve a mention. Same-game multis — combining, say, a Warriors win with a named winger to score — are offered by most books in our table, priced by model rather than straight multiplication because the legs are correlated. And futures: premiership winner, top-four finish, and top try-scorer markets run all season, with the caveat that your stake is locked up for months. Kickoffs sit kindly in NZT, which also makes the NRL the easiest competition to bet in-play — our notes on that live in the in-play markets guide.
Cricket: Black Caps and the Super Smash
Cricket markets split into match-level and innings-level. Match-level: match winner, series winner, and futures on tournaments. Innings-level is where cricket betting gets interesting: first-innings runs over/under, team total bands, top Black Caps batter, top bowler, total match sixes, and runs-off-the-over markets in-play. Top batter and top bowler markets are each-way style props where research genuinely pays — form and batting position matter more than the headline odds suggest.
Coverage of the domestic game varies sharply. The Super Smash gets match winner, innings runs and top-batter markets at the bigger books; Gambiva covered NZ domestic cricket down to Plunkett-level first-class fixtures in our testing, which almost nothing else matched. If you bet domestic cricket, check the book actually lists it before depositing — several books in our table price only internationals and franchise T20 leagues.
Netball: the market nobody else covers
Netball is New Zealand's biggest women's sport, and 0 of the 9 NZ betting guides we analysed in our competitor research cover betting on it. The books do, though: 22bet, Rabona and Ivibet all price ANZ Premiership rounds and Silver Ferns internationals, including Constellation Cup series against Australia. Markets run to match winner, goals handicap, and total goals — thinner than rugby, but real.
The soft-price argument is strongest here. Netball lines get far less sharp attention than rugby or NRL lines, and in our sampling the offshore books' netball margins beat TAB's by more than they did on rugby. Limits are lower too — books protect themselves on markets they price with less confidence — so netball suits smaller recreational stakes rather than large plays.
22bet — widest NZ market coverage, netball included

22bet is the only book in our table that ticks every NZ sport on this page: ANZ Premiership netball, NPC down to first try-scorer, the sharpest NRL margins in our sample at ~4.5%, cricket props, and Australian racing. Market depth is the house specialty — expect to scroll. Our e-wallet withdrawal cleared in under 24 hours. Check the current sign-up offer on site.
Football and esports
Football is table stakes offshore — every book in our table prices the English Premier League, European competitions and internationals with full market lists: match result (1X2), both teams to score, totals, Asian handicaps, correct score and player props on the big leagues. The All Whites' World Cup qualifiers and A-League fixtures appear at the larger books, though with shorter market lists than European games. Depth isn't the differentiator in football; price is, which is an argument for holding more than one account — the case we make in betting strategies.
Esports is a different story: coverage is genuinely uneven, and Ivibet and Spinanga are the strongest two books in our lineup. Both price CS2, Dota 2 and League of Legends daily, with map handicaps and total-maps markets alongside match winners. Esports odds move violently in-play — rounds resolve in seconds — so if that's your market, latency matters more than anywhere else.
Ivibet — best for esports (and netball-friendly)

Ivibet ran the deepest esports lobby we tested — CS2 and Dota 2 priced daily with map markets, not just match winners — and it also prices ANZ Premiership netball. Rugby and NRL margins sat around 5% in our October sample, and in-play comes with live streams on selected events. Withdrawals cleared inside 24 hours. Current offer shown on site.
Horse racing: what offshore books can and can't offer
Racing is the one market where the law reshapes the product. The 2025 Amendment to the Racing Industry Act 2020 restricts offshore operators' use of New Zealand racing content, so betting on NZ gallops and harness meetings largely sits with TAB NZ. What offshore books price instead is Australian and international racing — and they price a lot of it. Every Saturday metro meeting in Australia, the spring carnival including the Melbourne Cup, plus UK, Hong Kong and US cards at the bigger racing books.
In our lineup, 22bet, BetLabel, Goldenbet, Billybets, BassBet and Roby Casino all carry racing sections. Market types run from win/place through exotics — quinella, trifecta, first four — depending on the book. On greyhounds: New Zealand greyhound racing ended in August 2026 under the government phase-out, so there is no NZ dog betting anywhere. Australian greyhound meetings remain priced daily at the offshore books that carry racing.
Bet types glossary: the five you'll actually use
Every market above is built from a handful of bet structures. Here they are with NZ examples:
| Bet type | What it is | NZ example |
|---|---|---|
| Handicap (line) | One side gets a points start; the bet is whether they cover it | Warriors +6.5 — they can lose by 6 and your bet still wins |
| Totals (over/under) | Bet on combined score, not the winner | Over 44.5 points in an All Blacks test |
| Same-game multi | Two or more correlated legs from one fixture, model-priced | Crusaders to win + first try-scorer from their back three |
| Futures (outrights) | Season-long market settled months later; stake locked until then | Black Caps to win a World Cup; NRL premiership winner |
| Player props | Markets on an individual, not the result | Anytime try-scorer; top Black Caps batter |
One housekeeping point that applies across every market on this page: all of it is R18, winnings are untaxed for recreational bettors under IRD practice, and the fastest way to get paid after a winning week is to finish ID verification the day you join — not the day you first withdraw.
How we audit market depth
- Count real markets on real fixtures — the same All Blacks test, NRL round and Super Smash match across every book.
- Compare margins per sport — netball and NPC lines are priced lazier than NRL; we sample monthly.
- Check settlement speed per market type — player props settle slower than match lines everywhere; the question is by how much.
How to pick the right market: step by step
- Start with the sport you actually watch — your edge is knowledge, and it's biggest where the books pay least attention (netball, NPC, domestic cricket).
- Compare the same line across 2–3 books from the table — a half-point of handicap or $0.05 of odds is real money over a season.
- Prefer simple markets early: match winner and handicap price sharpest; same-game multis carry stacked margins.
- Check the market rules — 80-minute result vs including extra time catches rugby bettors every finals season.
- Record every bet — sport, market, odds, stake, closing line. Four columns now save a bankroll later.
NZ betting markets FAQs
Can I bet on netball in New Zealand?
Yes — 22bet, Rabona and Ivibet price ANZ Premiership rounds and Silver Ferns internationals with match winner, handicap and total goals markets. Most other books skip netball, so check before depositing.
What markets can I bet on for All Blacks tests?
Match winner, handicap, total points, winning margin bands, half-time/full-time, and first or anytime try-scorer props. All Blacks tests carry the deepest market lists of any NZ fixture.
Can offshore bookmakers take bets on NZ horse racing?
Mostly no — the 2025 Amendment restricts offshore use of NZ racing content, so NZ gallops and harness sit with TAB NZ. Offshore books price Australian and international racing instead.
Can I still bet on greyhound racing?
Not on NZ dogs — NZ greyhound racing ended in August 2026. Australian greyhound meetings are still priced daily offshore.
What is a same-game multi?
A bet combining two or more selections from one fixture, like Warriors to win plus a named try-scorer. The odds are model-priced because the legs are correlated.
